Hot Bath is an achievement in the game Return of the Boogeyman. Due to it being a visual novel, all you have to do to get this achievement is progress the game.

There’s a moment near the start of Return of the Boogeyman that sets the entire tone of the game — not with a jump scare, not with a clawed hand emerging from the dark, but with steam. Water. Silence. A girl alone in a bathtub, and the ache of everything she’s about to leave behind.

That’s Hot Bath. And it’s one of the first achievements you can get, aside from Monster Skull.

The description reads: “The last bathing before farewell.” 

Simple. Poetic. The kind of line that sounds like a literary epigraph until you realize it’s about a woman soaking in a tub before she sells the only house she’s ever known.

Here’s the setup: Natalie has come back to her childhood home one final time. The house is on the market. The boxes packed. The memories — or at least the ones she’s willing to carry — are loaded into the car. Everything else stays here. The wallpaper. The closet door that never stayed shut. The hallway that stretched too long past midnight. The bedroom where she spent sixteen years lying still in the dark, pretending the thing crouched beside her bed wasn’t real.

Now it can be someone else’s problem. But before she leaves this place with its nightmarish memories behind for good — she needs one last moment.

She runs a bath.

Steps to Earning the Hot Bath Achievement

Step 1: Give yourself a good look in that old bathroom mirror that’s accumulated more dust than condensation from the heat of the bath you’ve run. Your red crop top that hugs your breasts so well, nobody needs to think twice about what size they might be, but damn would they want to suck on the pointed peaks of your nipples.

Long platinum blonde hair, earrings that glimmer with enough elegance that states you’re not rich enough to flaunt your wealth just yet, and a gorgeous body.

Step 2: Take those clothes off, feel them peel away from your skin, as if separating yourself from them can also separate you from the past of this house.

Step 3: Step into the bath. This enormous old bathtub, big enough for two. The kind of tub a family puts in when they’re dreaming of full baths and splashing kids and Sunday mornings. The house never quite delivered on that dream, but the tub stayed.

And that’s it. The achievement drops the moment she sinks into the water.

No monster. No rumble in the walls. No red eyes burning in the corner.
